Port of Agadir: An increase of 18.2% of traffic recorded in 2020

The port of Agadir recorded an increase of 18.2% in terms of port traffic in 2020, (6 million tons in 2020 against 5.1 million in 2019). According to the report of the port performance in 2020, this variant is the result of the increase in imports (+13.9%), exports (+ 24.4%) and cabotage (16.7%).
The increase in overall traffic of this port is attributable to the strong rebound of 62.3% of clinker traffic, with a volume of 1,137,023 tons in 2020. Similarly, this increase is the result of a positive trend in imports of cereals (+36.8%) and livestock feed (+9.1%), whose volumes have reached 945,523 tons and 311,308 tons respectively, as well as a sharp increase of 86.9% of coal imports, about 180,527 tons. The increase is due, also, to an increase of 5.4% of overall traffic of containers, settling at a volume of about 1.85 million tons.
The traffic of citrus and early has, however, experienced a decline of 4.3%, with a volume of about 64,192 tons.
The distribution of traffic by mode of packaging shows a predominance of bulk traffic (64.2%) with a total volume of 3.9 million tons, including 2.8 MT of solid bulk and 1.1 MT of liquid bulk.
In addition, the volume of general cargo recorded an average value of 2.1 million tons.
At the end of the year 2020, the port of Agadir recorded the arrival of 19,952 cruise passengers, after 79,600 cruise passengers in 2019.
The number of ships repaired in the port of Agadir recorded an increase of 22%, amounting to 739 ships repaired at the end of the year 2020.
