FOMENTO brings an investor to the project to organize and operate the container terminal which enables the port of Dakar to strengthen its position as the main point of trade in West Africa and the gateway for the entire sub region. With this investment and knowledge transfer, facilities become first class and the O&M ensures a high level of return for both the operator and the government.

This is a unique project in the West African coast, due to the exceptional geographical and maritime advantages of the Dakar seaport:

  • Its location in the West Coast of Africa provides to Dakar port a convenient location for tranship.
  • A permanent easy access: unrestricted, accessible 365 days a year.
  • Shipowners save 2 to 3 days of stopping in Dakar rather than in Abidjan.

Some of the project:

  • Set up the area available in the port of Dakar for the implementation of a Container Terminal.
  • Increase the surface to the extent that the requirement that the Terminal advises.
  • Equip the Terminal with Ships / Shore Container Cranes and yard equipment, necessary for the proper operation of the Terminal.
